David Caldwell
I am a multi-disciplinary creative. Previously a graphic designer for global brands, I am now a full-time artist and fine art photographer. My photographic work is inspired by the natural world and aims to capture a strong sense of mood and presence..sometimes dramatic, sometimes serene.
Texture, light and form play a strong part in bringing these qualities to the forefront often creating a very cinematic feel. My recent work explores nightime landscapes with a strong emotional response...where the scene feels less familiar than in daylight hours. In these poor light conditions our imagination alludes to what our eyes can’t see.

More about David
I studied at the Laird School of Art & Manchester Polytechnic and discovered my passion in printmaking. This influenced my 40 years in the creative industry. In the 90’s I embraced the emerging digital technologies, combining these with my traditional printmaking skills, graphic design and photography

- 2018: Menier Gallery, London Bridge.
- 2019: Woolwich Contemporary Print Fair, Affordable Art Fair Battersea, Bell House, Dulwich, and won the public vote during an exhibition at the Anna Lovely Gallery.
- 2020: Short-listed for the Boodle Hatfield Printmaking Prize whilst exhibiting at the Woolwich Contemporary Print Fair.
- 2021: As part of the joint campaign with Campari and the Affordable Art Fair, known as Art Without Walls, my work was displayed on digital advertising screens on bus shelters throughout East London. Showcased black & white fine art photography at the ECAD Gallery, Peckham.
- 2022: The Anna Lovely Gallery, the Dulwich Arts Festival, Affordable Art Fair Battersea and Woolwich Contemporary Print Fair.
- 2023: Affordable Art Fair Hampstead, Woolwich Contemporary Print Fair and the Art Maze, Bargehouse Oxo Tower Wharf.
- 2024: Affordable Art Fair Battersea, FLUX Exhibition, Marylebone. Woolwich Contemporary Print Fair and Darkness Falls exhibition at The Glasgow Gallery of Photography.
